Information
To ensure smooth effortless operation of windows as large as doors, we use butt hinges to mount the sash to the frame and a heavy-duty roto operator to control the degree of opening.
To keep the building secure and weather-tight, casements from 24" to 84" in height are equipped with a concealed multi-point locking system actuated by an attractive low-profile lever handle. Homeowners will appreciate the fact that in either the locked or unlocked position the low-profile handle will not interfere with curtains or blinds. The progressive action of the multipoint locking system eliminates the need to force the window closed with the operator. It actually reaches out as much as .50 to pull the sash into the closed position, creating just the right amount of pressure on the weather-stripping. Windows less than 24" in height are equipped with a single point lock.
Configurations
Western's Series 700 Hinged Windows are available in casements, awnings, hoppers and fixed configurations. It is common to combine the operating windows with fixed, or have a series of operating windows in the same frame. The frame depth is 2.81", the same as our Series 100 Horizontal Sliding and Single Hung windows. This common dimension allows us to mull Series 700 with Series 100, or insert either of them into our Series 600 Window Wall System.
Casements
Casements hinge at the side and swing out. They are available in widths from 14" to 36" and heights from 14" to 84". Western's casement has been tested and is certified to a "Heavy Commercial" rating of C-HC40, up to a size of 36" X 84". The C-HC40 equates to a design pressure of 40 pounds per square foot, the equivalent of a wind speed of 125 MPH.
